At Valor Ridge, faith is not an ornament added to the school day. It is the ground beneath it. We look to God for truth, wisdom, strength, and purpose, and we want our work, words, discipline, and love to honor Him.
This creed names the kind of household we are trying to become: humble enough to be corrected, courageous enough to stand, and loyal enough to carry one another when the road is difficult.
Everything else in this house sorts itself out when these three are in the right order, and almost nothing does when they aren't.
God
His Word is our foundation. Not a topic we cover. The thing the rest is built on.
Husband and wife, united
Standing together in love and respect. Our son learns marriage by watching one.
Children
Nurtured, trained, and guided in truth and strength. Third is not last. It is the order that keeps him safe.
Faith before fear
Fear may speak, but it does not get the final word. We trust God and act from His promises.
Honor and loyalty
We keep our word, tell the truth, and remain faithful to God and to one another.
Kindness with courage
We choose mercy without becoming passive, and conviction without becoming cruel.
Iron sharpens iron
We tell one another the truth, accept correction, and expect love to make us stronger.
Strength through discipline
We practice what is difficult until it becomes dependable. Self-command creates the freedom to do what the moment requires.
Body, mind, and spirit
We train all three. A complete education should strengthen judgment, character, and capability.
Wisdom through learning
We read carefully, ask honest questions, reason well, and seek God's truth above our pride.
Work with purpose
We do ordinary work attentively. Excellence is built in small tasks before it is tested in large ones.
Respect for authority
We honor parents, leaders, and elders, understanding that every human authority remains answerable to God.
Service over self
We become capable so that our capability can be given away — to help, protect, repair, and serve.
Legacy of love
We live today with the generations after us in mind, passing on a faith that was lived and not merely stated.
We are raising a boy toward manhood: able to learn, ready to lead, prepared to protect and provide, and willing to serve. We want him to carry both conviction and competence — to know what is good and have the capacity to act on it.
We do not expect perfection from him or from ourselves. We expect honesty, repentance, endurance, and the courage to begin again. This creed gives us a place to return when the day does not resemble the standard.
I lead this family with calm strength, humility, and courage. I will model the discipline, wisdom, and self-control I want my son to learn. I protect, provide, and teach — not through fear, but through faith and steady example.
I nurture this home with grace and truth. I will speak life into my husband and my son, and build this house on peace, prayer, and love.
I honor my parents and seek to grow in strength and wisdom. I work hard, think deeply, and use my words to build rather than destroy. I remember that my life belongs to God.
A standard you keep in your head is not a standard. It's a mood. This one is signed, dated, and on the wall, so that any of us can be held to it — including the two who wrote it.
